33-10-3402 is a code name for nenad markovic, an imaginative and limitless musician and producer from belgrade, serbia. this release is the first in a trilogy of opium den and whorehouse inspired singles entitled mecanica. the title track is an erratic and cacophonous 14 minute masterpiece, cycling you through disorderly drum programming until you have no choice but to surrender and just at that point, the ethereal pad melody offers you an escape. side bs byot is a blissed-out blur, drowned in reverb and subtly suggesting leads that may or may not actually exist-the perfect antidote to its impenetrable flipside.

re.you is back amongst the mobilee fold with a third instalment of his signature dark and heavy-hitting dancefloor beats. his masterful ep mind your head topped the charts in 2012, and this years drum-heavy summer smash anyway remains a firm dj favourite, even as the nights get longer and the season comes to a close.

a 4-track package traversing house and techno. first up jour de fete, a reference to the black and white 1940s french comedy – perhaps a clue to mr georget… one things for sure this is toe-tapping house. taking its time to perfectly build up the progression towards smooth outbursts of wailing sirens. 6eme etape is another fine example of get-up-and-dance house, theres plenty of driving drum kick and jazzy key chords, nicely pulled back and interrupted, to drop back in again with a renewed energy. poil de renard on the other hand immediately marks out its territory among the german minimal and micro house space. strong, syncopated beats laced with chopped up whispers and unknown reverberations, this is tough! the 103 mix softens up the edges, a subtle underlying synth providing the mellowness – essentially your morning-after dub version.

scotland-born parisian paradise 100 (a.k.a. dj africa, a.k.a. graham peel) has been percolating stripped-back, bouncy-castle house constructs onto the web for a few years but never locked them in wax until now. high time. following his minimalist dictum *more than three tracks on a song is just indulgence*, his debut eps four cuts share a sleek, spare design, jigsawing slinky bass, classic keys, lean drum programming and flashes of synth mirage into fluid, aerodynamic patterns. touches of melodic acid and crossover new wave color the mood an exotic, hedonistic hue (further evinced by titles like the loin king and french kissing in the house of love). his own vision of the project is appropriately fantastical: *the image in my mind is of tropical forests at night, torchlight, distant sounds of tribal ritual dance and ghosts.* regal music for pleasure domes.

two techno heavyweights in the form of swiss producer pascal nuzzo and uk duo nhb come together for three fierce tracks on the !organism label. nhb can be considered one the of best recent revelations in minimal techno, where they found a place thanks to their experiences of the late 90s rave underground. nhbs philosophy has always been linked with the use of real synthesizers and drum machines and that shows here, whilst nuzzo has had plenty of big hits in various sonic realms over the last few years, from french filter house to edm to full on techno.

after the vocal treatments and acid lines of tallmen 001, moog feedback comes rumbling through as tallmen 002 kicks in. multi joins as a co-producer for d220 ghosts of guitar and synth lines weave in and out as it picks up momentum, the kick drum planted firmly in the chest plate and swirling high-hats complete this burner of a track. floating ground returns to acid but not as one would expect. a simple melody turns into a strange animal, flying at once into outer-space then landing squarely on the 1, this is not your average acid tune.

second part of this two episode series on subnet records. following the same flavour as before... dark textures and mental synth lines driven together by hard drum patterns and groovy percussion. these two ep reflect the creepy and insane behaviour caused by experiments in the field of invisibility applied in the human being. all the tracks were recorded live! just using analog sequencers, mpc, analog mixer and synths. directly to a recording device. in the same way as you could record a live set, to keep all the vibe as fresh as possible. 220 copies limited vinyl release.

it is a family affair as grimy returns with heat from the windy city known for amazing dance edits. tim mcallister takes it out the gate with *rollin*, a classic soul/disco beater replete with joyous flute trills, leslie speaker efx and a pumping house kick. in-demand newcomer cratebugs *get up move your body* is a spacious, cosmic edit of a little-remembered canadian gem. the song ends with an intuitive synth jam that will be enjoyed by djs and home listeners alike. longtime grimy associate rahaan ends things with a bang. his largely original *buari traxx* mixes ghanaian rhythms with killer disco bass and the nuanced, tracky drum programming you could find on a dancemania record. the brilliant track is built for the floor and also serves as an apt transition into grimy trax, a sister label that will release all new music. chicago is still burning.

spike wolters quartet of self released lps which surfaced between 1981 - 84 have become the stuff of legend. an avant garde collection of solo tracks, combining guitar, drum machines, synths & vocals into spacious, fx laden compositions which stand firmly outside of the era in which they were created. its a lo-fi, but broad selection, taking in experimental pieces, alongside taut post-punk workouts, and more laidback steely dan moments. the sixteen cuts on orange cloud nine have been lovingly compiled from those four early 80s lps by golf channels phil south. its a limited single vinyl package, with custom artwork from perks & minis misha & individual download code.

after his epic split with black deer, torn hawk comes back with a proper four track 12 inch, opening with an almost balearic/tropical, someone put something in my drink and i am melting house cut. trapdoor returns to wyatts skewed after school special add cali-speed freak bastard child drum machine/guitar lush not lushness. we get more end-titles on the b-side, as both songs could be the soundtracks for a night hanging in a parking lot drinking boxed wine and snorting ajax while auxilary police circle, threatening to harsh your mellow ... good times to say the least.

hvnxx is one of the most special projects weve taken part in as a label. some months ago the xx and young turks asked our artists to remix tracks from coexist. it was a big honour and also a big responsi- bility, specially considering that the xx is one of our favourite bands. the outcome of such challenge is a four-track ep that showcases the sound of both well-established members of the hivern family, such as marc pinol and new jackson, and upcoming talents such as round and mistakes are ok. all four remixes are pretty different among them, but they all manage to maintain the distinctive spirit of the original songs in their own way. marc pinol takes fiction to the good ol days of chicago house, laying the original vocals on top of analog drum-machines and a rubbery bassline to that suggest an imaginary collaboration between adonis and oliver sim. the elusive mistakes are ok maintains the tropical vibe of reunion but provides a warped atmosphere combining breezy chimes with static haze and a propulsive bass that boosts the song towards the second part of the remix. hiverns latest signee round transforms the fragility of missing into a soothing house cut through uplifting organ chords and vigorous rhythms fulfilling dancefloor demands without loosing its melancholic character. finally, new jackson proves once again his knack with nocturnal ambiences flipping swept away into a sensuous deep-house gem guided by an absorbing piano and a slow but steady groove. the release comes in an embossed sleeve with artwork designed by arnau pi. hvnxx is a co-release with young turks.
